Macucu is an indigenous community on the Vaupés River in southeastern Colombia, members of the Kotiria people live here. Missionization and other experiences of violence have resulted in Macucu having neither a traditional longhouse, nor dance ornaments to continue traditions and pass on ancestral knowledge. Orlando Villegas from Macucu and his wife Diana Guzmán travel to Berlin for the first time in 2014 to the Ethnological Museum and meet artefacts of their ancestors, which they know mainly from stories. These encounters lead to the decision to build a new longhouse in Macucu and to invite relatives from the surrounding communities to a big inauguration party.

Macucu ist eine indigene Gemeinschaft am Fluss Vaupés im Südosten von Kolumbien, hier leben Angehörige des Volkes der Kotiria. Missionierung und andere Gewalterfahrungen haben dazu geführt, dass es in Macucu weder ein traditionelles Langhaus, noch Tanzornamente gibt, um die Traditionen fortzuführen und das Wissen der Ahnen weiterzugeben. Orlando Villegas aus Macucu und seine Frau Diana Guzmán reisen 2014 zum ersten Mal nach Berlin ins Ethnologische Museum und treffen dort auf Dinge ihrer Vorfahren, die sie vor allem aus Erzählungen kennen. Diese Begegnungen führen zum Beschluss, ein neues Langhaus in Macucu zu bauen und die Verwandten aus den umliegenden Communities zu einem großen Einweihungsfest einzuladen.
